In his zeal to protect the insurance industry he will repeat all the insurance industry talking points right down the line. This behavior is even unusually repugnant for a Republican.

Like so many others of his ilk, too numerous to mention, it's always more convenient to have someone else fight these dirty little wars, as long as the "patriot" in question is able to wriggle out of participation by any means available. Once called out, Tancredo had no defense and he slithered off when no "apology" was forthcoming. There wasn't much more that he could have done actually.

I'm sure we've all met people whose default position is to tell a lie, rather than the truth. It doesn't matter if the issue is big or small, they just can't help lying. Such people assume that everyone else is like them, and that everybody else lies all the time as SOP.

Chickenhawks are the same way. They realize that a very small percentage of the population serve in the military, so they feel free to take pot shots at their opponents, impugning their patriotism etc because they know that the odds are with them that their opponent hasn't served, either. That levels the playing field in their minds, so they can go off on a tangent about how they "talk to veterans all the time" or "served on the veteran affairs committee" or some other BS.

Thus, the hapless Tancredo ran into the buzz saw that was Markos Moulitis, who is a vet and didn't have to play the usual pundit game of, "I won't bring up your hypocrisy if you won't bring up mine."

I would hope the good guys in the talking head/pundit class got the message and begin to confront the chickenhawks with their cowardice, as did Markos.

BTW - when telling the truth about someone's chickenhawkness is considered "an insult," we're definitely down the rabbit hole.
