Why isn't the Ohio Serial Killer a bigger story on DU?

I mean this has all the trappings of something that I can see endless threads about. A man who is being questioned for the murder of at least 11 different women. All of the bodies being stored in his home with no one knowing the better. A man who was a convicted sex offender and a former Marine. If this was a white guy being questioned for the deaths of 11 white women or black women there would be countless threads about violence against women. Shoot, if it was a black guy who killed 11 white women, I bet you'd see a lot of threads. The fact that this story involves a black dude killing black women makes it a non-story to most people. I guess the death of black people by black people is so common that nobody really cares.

Serial killers who are men who kill men; who are not white, not male and/or kill outside their race are unusual. Serial killers are frightening enough; when they don't fit the pattern, it's scarier and from a psychological perspective, interesting.

You can't turn on the TV without hearing something about the story, so obviously a great deal of people do care about it. Are you trying to suggest that DUers are more racist than the average person on the street?

Since there really isn't anything political about the story I think that may be why it isn't being discussed more on a web site dedicated primarily to politics. No need to read anything more into it.

12. I admit curiosity about an atypical serial killer not from Kansas City

For a while at least, KC led the nation in per capita serial killings, and had atypical killers (Berdella, who killed young men; a black serial killer whose name escapes me at the moment) as well as the typical middle aged white men. It being a transportation hub might explain the unusually high number of these type of killings, mostly unresolved in the area.

13. I was thinking of a side story

this morning - don't remember which network - some neighbors said how the smell was awful from that place.

There is a sausage making factory close by, and everyone blamed it on the sausages so the poor owner had to replace his grease trap and take other measures because of the smell.

We've had a few stories here, but it's not AS big as it should be because it happen in a crime-ridden section of Cleveland. Suburbanites who watch cable news networks really only care if such a thing happened in suburban areas.
